This offering is for all women who have experienced loss, regardless of how long ago it happened or the age of your child when the loss occurred. We see you as the mother you are, and want to honor you, your experience, and your child’s life. We believe that grief – and healing – happens in community, and that every woman deserves this opportunity. We also know that while loss is universal, each experience is deeply personal. Because of this, we will work alongside you to ensure your ceremony touches your heart and speaks to your soul.
When we experience loss profound as that of losing a child, time seems to stand still. When loss is not accompanied by a process that allows us to feel and express our emotions, these emotions retreat only to leave us in a functional freeze state. We believe motherhood transcends the physical presence of a baby in arms – so whether you are in the dawn of loss or have navigated years since, this ceremony was tenderly crafted to help honor it.
During this session, we create space for the tender process of naming, marking, and holding your unique experience.
We will offer gentle music, fresh flowers, a nourishing meal, and aromatherapy to allow your nervous system to settle in and find comfort. You will receive a ceremonial foot bath followed by a foot massage with warming sesame oil. If your loss was recent or you feel called, we can offer womb massage with a custom blend of essential oils that is meant to help close the womb, bring your organs and muscles into greater alignment, and otherwise support your recovery. You may choose to receive belly binding and guidance on how to self-bind. The session then closes with a shared meditation, holding deep reverence for your body and all it has done.
